Assistant Controller

We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Controller to assist in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of a Controller.

An effective assistant controller has good knowledge of accounting principles. You must be organized professionals with a great eye for detail. You must be adaptable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.

The goal is to contribute to keep the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control.

Reports to: Controller

Minimum Education: A BSc/BA in accounting, finance or a relevant field is preferred. Professional certification (CPA) is a plus. Minimum 6 years’ Experience.

Experience and/or qualifications

  • Proven experience as Assistant Controller or other similar position
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant regulations
  • Understanding of fund accounting/class tracking
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
  • Basic understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks)
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize
  • Highly motivated and have the desire to learn and advance
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of both payroll and purchasing processes are a plus.

Position Specific Competencies

  • Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.)
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
  • Assist with internal audits and partnership audits
  • Assist in managing journal entries, invoices etc. and assist in reconciling accounts for the monthly or annual closing
  • Oversee and mentor AP/Purchasing Clerk and other staff as growth occurs
  • Oversee payroll, purchasing and payable processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
  • Participate in preparation for the annual audit and tax returns
  • Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Assist controller with a variety of tasks as needed.
  • Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records
