Research Technician
Full-time, exempt
The Research Technician will perform analytical test and experiments in support of Vyriad research projects. Experienced with standard chemistry and molecular biology lab practices and techniques. Operates laboratory equipment and instruments. Utilizes scientific software to interpret and record test results. Expected to help manage the laboratory space and contribute to non- science activities as needed. Work is closely managed by a supervisor/manager.

Core Responsibilities
Scientific responsibilities
- Participates in research activities. Performs analytical tests and experiments in support of research projects following defined protocols/SOPs.
- Utilizes scientific software to compile, analyze, and interpret data.
- Develops proficiency in basic molecular, cellular, and/or immunological lab practices and techniques, and proper scientific record keeping.
- Performs a variety of basic molecular biology, cell biology, virology, or immunology experiments and maintain proper scientific records assays under minimal supervision.
- Performs work in compliance with company policies.
- Assists in assay development and execution under supervision.
- Prepares and presents internal and external presentations.
- Helps identify assay and protocol deficiencies, working with supervisors to develop and implement solutions.
Lab maintenance
- Maintains necessary reagents (including eukaryotic cell lines) for assigned scientific activities.
- Maintains and operates standard laboratory equipment.
- Keeps assigned lab space in a clean and operational condition.
- Prepares common laboratory reagents, buffers, and media.
- Maintains proper supply levels in laboratories.
Education and Experience Requirements
- A BS or MS in a science related field.
Required Skills and/or Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in viral vectors and their characterization and/or viral vector engineering.
- Experience in eukaryotic cell culture techniques.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong motivation, attention to detail, ability to think independently and work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize task effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for learning.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing at laboratory benches.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
